How the Goyard rule works

Observed Goyard serials pair an unpublished three-letter prefix with six digits whose outer positions form the month and inner positions form the year.

Read it in three passes

Follow the positions in order before interpreting the result.

Recent Goyard markings are commonly read with an outer-month and inner-year convention, but the brand has not published the rule or the meaning of the opening letters.

Model-specific places to inspect

Placement changes substantially by product, so inspect the model's leather attachments and concealed interior surfaces rather than only the lining.

Saint Louis, Anjou, and related totes: check the leather strap joining the removable pouch.
Artois: inspect the reverse of the leather flap inside the pocket.
Saigon: inspect interior leather near the pocket, seam, or edge.
Other pieces: check an interior tab, beneath a flap, and along concealed leather trim.
